Edward White

Edward White began his career in music when, fresh out of the BRIT School (Britain’s equivalent to the New York FAME school) he bagged a gig playing session guitar in Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Metal Philharmonic. This led to session work with Dame Kiri Tekanawa and Boyzone.

Following a degree in Music from the University of Sussex in Brighton where Edward studied composition and orchestration under celebrated English National Opera composer Martin Butler, Edward was asked to score the internationally released cult British supernatural thriller, ‘Nine Lives’ (A&A/Lionsgate), starring Paris Hilton. This led to music for TV legend, Brian Clemens, creator of ‘The Professionals’ and writer of numerous popular TV shows and films.

Nine Lives (2002)Nine Lives (2002)In 2006, Edward beat over 1500 hopefuls to become a finalist in the BBC’s Young Television Composer competition. As part of the competition, Edward conducted the BBC Concert Orchestra through a selection of music from the acclaimed BBC documentary Planet Earth by BAFTA winning composer George Fenton.

The following year, Edward was selected as one of Turner Classic Movies’ 2007 worldwide top 5 young film composers by a blue ribbon panel of judges chaired by Oscar™ winner Hans Zimmer. He was flown to Los Angeles to accept the prestigious award in front of 300 of his peers at a gala dinner celebrating the 2007 Composer Expo. Later that year, he collaborated with Hollywood film composer Jeff Rona, recording with the China Philharmonic Orchestra in Beijing.

In January 2008, Edward premiered his first concert work based on the Baha’i prayer ‘Blessed is the Spot’, a choral piece performed by the 45 piece National Baha’i Festival Chorus at the Warwick Arts Centre.

The Wayfarer is an intriguing and informative new film about one young man’s journey around the world to understand the Bahá’í faith – its beliefs, its humanitarian efforts, and its ongoing struggle against persecution.

Filmmaker Jess Firth first encountered the Faith while visiting an old school-friend from New Zealand who now works at the Baha’i World Centre. Intrigued by what he saw of this new religion, Jess set out on a year-long journey through five different countries, meeting Bahá’ís, experiencing their holy places, questioning their beliefs and visiting their development projects.

The Wayfarer is the first independent documentary to investigate this rapidly expanding faith, which is now the second most geographically widespread religion in the world after Christianity.

The hour-long film, shot entirely in HD digital video with an original score by upcoming soundtrack composer Edward White, combines thought provoking content with stunning images of iconic locations.
