O Heroes of our Age

Maria ChouchtariMaria ChouchtariO Friends, O Heroes of our Age
Your eyes glow like flowers in the Sunshine
Your love is not in prison behind bars
Only your bodies are like birds in cages
But your wings of Faith and Courage
Are ever ready for flight
We hear melodies here tonight
That we hope will traverse the sounds and vibrations
and reach the ears and the hearts
and uplift your spirits
This evening violins, guitars, pianos and drums play music
The clear melodious voices chant Hidden Words,
Scriptures, sacred verses and combine with poetic incantations
While our prayers like magical spells
Console the spirits and deepen our love for you.

There is never a moment
When you are not in our thoughts
The world around you is constantly asking
Why must these innocent ones tolerate the fanatics?
Repressed and oppressed and subjugated
To useless and false accusations
Patiently you await your trial
Have they no sense of justice?

You are the scapegoats for all the disorder
Brought about by useless confrontations
For the people's cry for democracy must be heard!
Such as it may seem, there are no proofs
To justify their actions against you
So as the just cry out
Not a hair on thy heads should they hurt.
Their acts are not Hidden
While are voices are softly Roaring.
