The Pages of our Lives

Maria ChouchtariMaria ChouchtariHow does one index the pages of our lives?
Do we put it in alphabetical order
Or by sentiments, like love?
Does it really need to be cataloged, have an author, an editor or a page setting,
A Guru, priest or a publisher, an ISBN code reference, a proof reader, some graphics?
Is a social security number attached to our lives to prove our existence?
Has it been run through a spell checker?
Are we allowed no mistakes in our lives?

Our story may be told in many paragraphs and pages,
Including verses that don’t always rhyme.
Not all the words can express how progress is achieved, how one grows and develops.
Are we not all biographies, non-fiction in a hard or soft cover?
Who can sit back and read the pages and judge?
Is our life a Best Seller?
Who really is the character played out in black and white?
Does our printed version ever become out of print?
Do we really need to say on our last page “THE END”?
When in reality, past that page, is a new beginning.
Must we disguise our true selves and call it fiction?
Does a chapter in our lives concern religion?
Is it about education, history, or a philosophy?

The road to be tread is very long and often bumpy
But with one step at a time, we’ll get there.
And with all that, it will still have been worth it.
The passion and the tears, the hurts and the rejections,
Evermore so the laughter and the wisdom,
How we loved and served, we will always remember!
Not the end, just a new beginning!
Our tears are absorbed in time and by the color of the fading paper.
It is not even about how many pages, the cover, or the style of its binding
But how well it is put together in thoughts and actions.
Its success is in the sharing!

Its best critique is not to win a prize,
But to be part of a true library of re-collections,
Bringing good cheer and knowledge to humanity.
Heroes and examples are needed to raise up the standards.
True literature does not come just on ink and paper
It comes from our hearts, souls and minds.
That will never be outdated in time, regardless of date or place published.
We are but all letters on a page, searching for true meaning
Where the letters B and E have a purpose in a sentence.
When all the stories are written and the words are spoken,
The merit will come from transformation.
As with true revelation, its purpose is to teach Mankind lessons,
In how to teach, love and pray!
All these lessons are more than just words on paper.
