Piano and Orchids for Cocktails

Art connects us back to our nature. I think that is one of the main reasons, it’s so important, it’s so effective toward everyone in the world. Because it’s us, it comes from us, comes from our soul.” - Marjan Majd

Using mainly orchids, because of their variety and elegance, and because they survive in strong lighting, Marjan Majd, of Chicago-based Parisian Floral Design, creates works of living art. Her favorite color is burgundy, which, she says, “plays well with others.”

Ms. Majd says she takes inspiration in creating her arrangements from another of her talents: “I’m a trained classical pianist, and so art and beauty are in my eyes and fingers,” she says. “From that I derive an ‘educated imagination’ in sensing what works. I’m also inspired by the Baha'i House of Worship itself, being there amid its majesty and significance.”
